Michael joined the Gympie team in 2011 after completing his Masters degree at SCU Lismore where he was lucky enough to be mentored and taught by Mark Keyworth, the previous owner of Health Management Centre. In 2016 Michael and Samantha purchased the practice from Mark and they are committed to continuing his legacy of patient centred care. Michael is passionate about holistic health and believes in each person’s ability to achieve optimal functionality. He approaches treatment as a generalist and has thus been lucky enough to treat people of all ages from newborns to centurions. Assisting people all over Australia and as far away as India to achieve positive health outcomes. With an expanding clinic Michael mentors all associates, having a close working relationship and an open door clinic policy. |
LYNETTE TOPHAM - OSTEOPATH
With around 20 years of experience in the field, Lynette provides an experienced, tailored approach to osteopathy. Comfortable treating a range of clients from infants and pregnant women to the elderly and everything in between. Lynette is not only a joy to work with, she is also incredibly skilled at what she does. Treating as a generalist, her results speak for themselves. |
ANGUS NICOL - OSTEOPATH
Angus has an interest in many different areas of osteopathy and always strives to bring his patients the best and most appropriate care. Considered a generalist, Angus is able to individualise his treatment strategy based on each presenting patient to maintain a holistic approach. Confident treating structurally he has is also competent practicing using functional and indirect treatment approaches as he considers some patients may respond better to these methods. With a focus on empowering the patient with adequate education regarding their complaint; and actively listening to and being empathetic towards their stories/goals/concerns, so he can work collaboratively with them (alongside fellow team members and other healthcare practitioners, when necessary) to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. Consistent with these values, he often places a strong emphasis on psychosocial factors in his approach, skills which were refined during clinical placements at Windana Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation clinic and Sacred Heart Mission - a centre for homeless and disadvantaged people. With confident hands and a warm heart, he is a great asset to the HMC family. |
KIRBY EDWARDS - OSTEOPATH
Kirby is a registered Osteopath who graduated from Southern Cross University with a Bachelor of Clinical Science and a Master of Osteopathic Medicine. Kirby was inspired to become an osteopath after experiencing the effectiveness of practice firsthand. She believes that by providing a safe space, osteopathy can help patients understand their bodies and empower them to take control of their own health. Kirby considers herself a generalist, and is comfortable treating a range of clients from infants and pregnant women to the elderly and everything in between. She believes in meeting her patients where they are at in their healing journey and helping them to reach their goals. When Kirby is not in the clinic, she enjoys surfing, swimming, pilates and nature. She is passionate about helping people to get back to enjoying the activities they love. |
RAMONA PACKHAM - OSTEOPATH
Ramona completed her Bachelor of Science (Osteopathy) and Master of Health Science (Osteopathy) at Victoria University, working at a sports clinic and in the aged care sector before joining the team at HMC Osteopaths. Ramona creates a safe and comfortable space for all to receive care. She founds her osteopathic management on the principle that the body is an intricately designed creation and works to facilitate its natural healing mechanisms. She empowers each client with education on what is happening in their body, why it is happening, and with a plan to achieve optimal function. Ramona is certified to use dry needling as a technique to promote repair and recovery as an additional asset to her hands on therapy. Having fascination in human movement and its therapeutic effect, Ramona often uses her training as a APPI Clinical Matwork Pilates instructor to integrate Pilates-based exercise into self-management plans to amplify positive changes for her clients. Outside clinical practice, Ramona enjoys spending time with people, Latin-American dancing, and exploring all the natural beauties in our world. |
LIAM NEYLAND - OSTEOPATH
Liam graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Applied Health Science and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Osteopathy). He strives to create a safe and understanding atmosphere for all patients. Liam also approaches all treatments with a patient centred mindset and understands that each patient is an individual, so treatment must be individualised. Liam is confident treating a wide variety of patients and strongly believes in providing patient education and goal setting. As he believes this provides patients with the opportunity to become active participants in their treatment. When not in the clinic Liam enjoys playing rugby, MMA training, diversifying his culinary palette and looking after his two English Cocker Spaniels. |
LOCHLAN WHITTON - OSTEOPATH
Lochlan is a registered osteopath who graduated from Southern Cross University with a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences and a Masters in Osteopathic Medicine. As an osteopath, Lochlan believes that each individual and their body brings with them a unique set of circumstances that must be understood in order to fully facilitate the healing processes of the body. He believes that it is important to create a safe and comfortable environment in which he can work with patients towards their various health-related goals. Lochlan believes in the focus on patient education around the various mechanics and intricacies of the human body, and that by becoming more aware of these aspects one can foster a more positive mindset which can in turn have positive effects on the lived experience of patients. Lochlan considers himself a generalist with a structuralist approach and a growing interest in more indirect forms of treatment. |
BRENDAN WAUGH - BOWEN & MASSAGE THERAPIST
Brendan is a Bowen Therapist with an integrative approach. Bowen Therapy assists the body’s innate healing capacity by using manual manipulation of the fascia to repattern muscular and structural holding patterns, supporting the body to return to a natural state of relaxation. Through his journey exploring many approaches to body work, Brendan has synthesised his experiences, blending manual therapy with a holistic approach. Every treatment is tailored uniquely to meet the individual needs of the client, drawing on his study of Bowen Therapy, P&F stretching and Lomi Lomi Massage Therapy. |
ALICE PAULSEN - MELILLO METHOD & FUNCTIONAL NEUROLOGY
Alice is a Certified Melillo Method Practitioner with extensive study, training, and practice in the field of Functional Neurology. Her training and experiences in both her professional and family life have led her to pursue a unique specialisation in identifying and remediating nervous system and neurological imbalances that are underlying many health conditions and challenges. Alice is particularly passionate about complex regional pain syndromes, as this is where her own journey began with her family’s experiences in the healthcare system; however, she works with a broad spectrum of issues from early childhood to adulthood. Alice naturally facilitates holistic health in a fun, friendly and compassionate environment. Working with Alice will generally involve a combination of in-clinic visits as well as a personalised home program to reinforce regulation of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, correcting electrical circuitry within the brain. We are excited to have her expertise on our team. |
KELLIE GOWEN - MASSAGE THERAPIST
Kellie has been a bodywork practitioner since 2000 and more recently began treating clients using ENAR therapy. Her focus is therapeutic, treating the body with the intention of connecting and harmonising. In her massage treatments she incorporates acupressure (shiatsu) points with therapeutic flow techniques to give an enjoyable massage that provides results. Kellie caters to individual clients needs on any given day. Kellie is also able to provide ENAR (Electro Neuro Adaptive Regulator) treatments to clients experiencing problems associated with inflammation, swelling and scar tissue. We have seen great results for many conditions including bursitis, plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder and more. Highly intuitive and skilled in manual therapies, Kellie has treated a wide range of clients from professional athletes to the elderly, injured, those experiencing chronic pain and everything in between. Massage and ENAR make a brilliant complement to osteopathy treatment. |
SAMANTHA GILLIGAN
Samantha is co owner of the clinic and a one of a kind therapist. She has studied a wide range of disciplines including kahuna, remedial massage, Infant massage, naturopathy, nutrition and biofeedback. She believes in the importance of nurturing all aspects of a person and her treatments reflect this philosophy. Samantha is currently on leave caring for the 2 newest additions to her and Michael's family. |
